Our daughter had lost all confidence in English literature before she met Lynda. From the very first meeting she gave us confidence that she could draw our daughter back out.
Within 3 sessions our daughter said she had learnt more with Lynda than she had in 3 months at school. She started to enjoy the subject again.

Since working with Lynda at Elevate English, I’ve seen a significant improvement in my daughter’s confidence and ability in English. In her first mock exams, she achieved a 3-3, and after just a few months of tuition with Lynda, she improved to a 4-4 in her most recent mocks. Lynda is now confident that she can achieve a 5 at GCSE.
A particular focus has been placed on English Language. Lynda carefully breaks down each question, helping my daughter understand structure, figurative language, and exactly what examiners are looking for. This has given her the tools she needs to maximise her marks on every question.
The lessons are always engaging, varied, and informative. Over time, my daughter has grown in confidence with both creative and transactional writing, benefiting greatly from Lynda’s innovative ideas and supportive approach.
Lynda has also been a fantastic source of support for me as a parent. She is always quick to respond to messages and questions, and has taken the time to review past papers in detail, identifying areas where my daughter can gain additional marks.
My only regret is that we didn’t find Lynda sooner—she has made such a positive impact in a relatively short space of time.’

I have been working with Lynda for the past several months, and the progress I have made is insane. When I first started, I was working at a Grade 2 unable to pass, with very little confidence in my English abilities.
Since then, Lynda has helped me improve in all aspects of my English, including essay structure, language, analysis and exam technique, and I am now confidently aiming for a Grade 6. What makes her such a great tutor is her patience, encouragement and sense of humour, which make every lesson enjoyable while still learning. She explains things clearly, builds confidence and always takes the time to make sure I understand.

My daughter is bright and capable, but has struggled at times during Key Stage 4, resulting in her entering Year 11 with gaps in content and uncertainty in approaching certain types of question. As a result, we both felt she would benefit from some additional support during Year 11 (ideally we would have started earlier!).
Fortunately, we found Lynda! There are many things that we have particularly liked about her teaching and general approach: her wealth of experience as an English teacher and examiner; the format of the sessions, working in a small group of pupils who are performing at a similar level (…which has helped my daughter’s understanding enormously); and the supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions and my daughter knows that her voice is heard. More generally, the classes have added structure to her English learning and revision, and helped her understand her strengths and development needs.
Most importantly, she looks forward to the class, enjoys it, and feels she has made genuine progress… which is reflecting in the grades she is achieving, both in English and elsewhere.
As a parent, I’m delighted that we found Lynda and highly recommend to others – for us, it has helped my daughter to develop the skills she needs to approach her exams with confidence, and perform as well as she can on the day.

Lynda it has been an absolute joy to work with you and you have given me such peace of mind in the run-up to Evie‘s exams. As you know, Evie is full of potential but was really struggling with the teaching at her school. The change in Evie has been enormous, most importantly her mental health and feelings of overwhelm have disappeared. She also feels so much more capable of feeling like she can do the work, it is a joy to see and I thank you so much for all your support, kindness and enthusiasm and help with Evie‘s progression.
On parents evening recently her teacher said how much happier Evie was in class and I think this is due to you breaking down each section of the English that needed doing and giving her extra confidence to be able to show her skills.
We can’t thank you enough and I’m actually looking forward to the exams to see how well she will do. It’s also lovely to hear her talking about poetry to her brother and challenging each other on different poems and their thoughts on what they mean. As a busy household, you’ve been such a great support and we can’t thank you enough.
