Meet Lynda
Helping students discover confidence in English and achieve more than they thought possible.
After more than 30 years as a teacher, Head of English, Headteacher and AQA examiner, I retired in 2024. It didn’t last long. I quickly realised that the part of the job I loved most was working directly with students and helping them discover that they are capable of more than they think.

My Story
After more than 30 years working as a teacher of English, Head of English and, for several years, as a headteacher, I retired in 2024. It didn’t last long.
I quickly realised that while I enjoyed having more free time, I missed the part of the job I loved most: working directly with students and helping them discover that they are capable of more than they think.
English has always been my passion. Throughout my career, I have taught students of all abilities, from those struggling to achieve a pass to those aiming for the very highest grades.
I have also worked as an examiner and team leader for AQA, giving me detailed understanding of what examiners are looking for and howe students can maximise their marks.
Experience & Expertise

Former Head of English

Headteacher
Years of leadership experience and a deep understanding of the challenges young people face through their education.

AQA Examiner & Team Leader
An insider’s understanding of what examiners are looking for and how students can maximise their marks.

30+ Years of Experience
Supporting students of all backgrounds, from those working towards a pass to those aiming for the highest grades.
My Approach

I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and challenging themselves.
Many of the students I work with are convinced they are “just not good at English.” One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping them realise that they can succeed and watching them begin to enjoy English.
Over the years, I have helped student move from Grades 1 and 2 to secure passes, achieve grades they never thought possible, and perhaps most importantly, walk into their exams believing in themselves.

Beyond the Classronn
When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me walking my Border Collie, Stan, reading, listening to audiobooks or spending time with family.
Stan occasionally makes a guest appearance during online lessons and is very popular with students.
